This post is the the first of our weekly North & Kedzie Recommends feature where I'll be bringing you my favorite seasonal pieces alongside short vignettes about life in Chicago.
Biking is a pretty big deal here in Chicago. If you happen to find yourself in Logan Square or Wicker Park on a Saturday for brunch, chances are you'll have more trouble finding a spot to chain up your bike than you will finding a parking spot for your car. That, of course, is a problem I'm happy to live with. (I'm not as happy to live with the two hour brunch waitlists, but I'll spare you that rant.)
Now that fall weather seems to be here to stay, I can't get away with a simple t-shirt and shorts for my rides across town. That's why I'm so excited for these fall menswear pieces from Simons and UNIQLO.
I traveled up to QuΓ©bec City a few weeks ago, and while I was there, a local friend introduced me to Simons. And, um, well, it was a passionate love affair at first site. I basically bought half the store because I have no self-control. That included this amazing sweatshirt. I'm obsessed with stripes anyways, but it's the collar that stole my heart. It's definitely a staple for my fall wardrobe.
Of course, knits and rain aren't the best of friends, but that's not an issue, because UNIQLO just released their new series of Ultra Light Down Shirt Jackets, and I wish I could have one in every color. The jacket weighs practically nothing, and it keeps me as warm as that Canadian goose that I had to swerve around in the street earlier today. Wherever my bike takes me this fall, I'm sure this jacket and sweater will come along for the ride.
Style Suggestions? Questions? We're on this journey together, and I'm always looking to learn more and help you with your questions, too. Leave a comment or email me with your thoughts. I'd love to hear from you.
