WHY I STOPPED: Two clicks. That's how many images I shot before I set my camera on my knee and asked, "So are you a model, by chance?" She smiled, "How can you tell?" I answered, "Because you change your pose just a little bit every time my shutter clicks, and only models know to do that."
Carolina may be a professional model (check out her Insta and give her a follow!), but she's also a wonderful human being. Even though she's only lived in NYC for four months, she's been busy walking the biggest runways for the major fashion weeks all around the globe. And because she's such a down-to-earth person, she was also willing to give me a few frames in the middle of a crowded Soho sidewalk.
The great part about Carolina's style is that it's something any of us (yes, me included) could pull off. Translation: you don't need to be a model to rock Carolina's A+ look. All you need are four simple garments: a base-layer shirt, a moto jacket, a poncho, and a wicked pair of bell bottom jeans (or skinny jeans). You can see the layering magic in the photos. A light base layer contrasts nicely with the black moto jacket. The poncho (more colorful than the one that I own, but still subtle and fall-toned) goes over the moto jacket. Dark jeans ground the outfit, allowing the layers to pop. That's it.
To elevate the look, Carolina uses three accessories: a stunning pair of high heel boots in a mid-brown color, a western-style hat in black, and a gorgeous, tasseled purse. The purse and hat pick-up on the southwestern vibes that the poncho gives off, while the boots add a pop of neutral color. It's subtle and badass. Just like Carolina.
